Sravan defends his MS

Sravan Pulipati has defended his MS. The thesis topic is “Electronically-Scanned Wideband Digital Aperture Antenna Arrays using Multi-Dimensional Space-Time Circuit-Network Resonance”. The project was co-advised by Dr. Arjuna Madanayake and Dr. Nghi Tran, with committee member Dr. Kye-Shin Lee, and was supported by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) STEM Program, with partial support from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Sravan will be starting his PhD in Spring 2017 at the University of Akron. Deep congratulations to Sravan Pulipati.

Smrity Bhattarai defends her MS

Congratulations to Smrity Bhattarai for defending her MS thesis on “Digital Architecture for Real-time Face Detection for Deep Video Packet Inspection Systems”. The project was co-advised with Dr. Ryan Toonen, and is a collaborative effort with Dr. Renato Cintra, UFPE, Brazil, and, Drs. Christophe Garcia and Stefan Duffner, both at LIRIS, INSA, Lyon, France. The thesis committee consisted of Dr. Arjuna Madanayake (Adviser), Dr. Ryan Toonen (Co-Adviser) and Dr. Kye-Shin Lee.

The ASPC Lab organized a guest talk titled “Nuclear fusion in up-down asymmetric tokamaks” . The speaker was Dr. Justin Ball- a post-doc at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland.

DARPA ACCESS Kick-Off Meeting

Arjuna Madanayake attended the DARPA ACCESS Kick-Off Meeting at the Executive Conference Center. Arjuna gave an invited seminar on the findings of an analog RF-IC computational acceleration project (DARPA STTR Program-Phase-I), in collaboration with Ocius Technologies. The ACCESS event was organized by DARPA Defense Sciences Office (DSO) under the leadership of Program Manager Dr. Vincent Tang.

Kickoff Workshop of the mmW RCN

Arjuna Madanayake attended and presented findings on sigma-delta spatio-temporal beamforming arrays at the Kickoff Workshop of the mmW RCN in Washington, DC. This is a collaborative project with Dr. Soumyajit Mandal at CWRU. The mmW RCN was organized by a team led by Professor Akbar Sayeed at University of Wisconsin – Madison.
