IT Executive Exchange meeting – May 10, 2013

Topic: The Internet of “Things”

Soon your toaster will tell your cell phone that your toast is ready, all the while logging your caloric consumption as you try to sneak some butter past the watchful eyes of the refrigerator… or so we are told. Is the “Internet of Things” (where devices small and large are instrumented to communicate with each other, collect data, and thereby be available for “smart” behavior) hype or reality? What implications does it have for mainstream IT? Please join us for the next ITEE meeting to discuss the implications of this emerging technology.

IT Executive Exchange meeting – November 9, 2012

Topic: Business Analytics

In October 2012 the Harvard Business Review published an article called “Data Scientist: The Sexiest Job of the 21st Century” (http://hbr.org/2012/10/data-scientist-the-sexiest-job-of-the-21st-century/ar/1). The deepest insights that such pioneers develop comes from linking disparate data sources (internal, from far-flung business partners, and external) in ways that make analytics possible. What are you doing to clean, standardize, integrate, and analyze the data gold mine that awaits mining in your company? Come share and learn more about how you and your peers are responding to the analytics bandwagon.

Parking passes and directions will be sent a week before the meeting.

Interested in attending? Please RSVP to Brittany Michael: brm14@zips.uakron.edu.

With the exploding number of choices available to end users throughout the organization, are IT policies and their enforcement becoming a myth? Come to discuss the travails of rogue users and what your peers are doing about them.

Next ITEE Meeting – March 26, 2010

Tip of the Hat. Wag of the finger: Learning from our Best and Worst IT Practices.

Every IT/IS organization has some IT process that they are particularly proud of, and others they would like to, (relatively speaking) sweep under the carpet. In this working session, ITEE members will share best and worst IT practices to enlighten, inform, assist, and amuze the participants.
