“The Geography and Spatial Sciences Program sponsors research on the geographic distributions and interactions of human, physical, and biotic systems on Earth. Investigators are encouraged to propose plans for research about the nature, causes, and consequences of human activity and natural environmental processes across a range of scales.”

Main Purpose: To promote research, education, and training in the area of geography and spacial studies.

Biological Anthropology Program Doctoral dissertation Research Improvement Grants (BA-DDRIG)

Main Purpose: To support doctoral students’ dissertation research in the area of human biology and ecology. This includes research regarding the evolutionary history that has shaped the biological diversity of human and nonhuman primates.

Benefits:

  • Anticipated $300,000-$400,000 per fiscal year divided into 15-20 grants
  • Proposals may not exceed $20,000 in direct costs

Eligibility:

  • Proposals must be submitted by the principal investigator (PI: faculty member serving as dissertation advisor) on behalf of the Co-PI (the doctoral student)
  • PI and Co-PI should be from the same university
