Community Service of Limited Means Opportunity for Students!

The CASA/GAL Program of Summit County is a fantastic way to volunteer, give back to the community, and make a difference in the life of a child. The program mission is to provide every child, who enters the court system by no fault of his/her own, due to allegations of abuse, neglect, or dependency, a community trained volunteer or GAL to advocate on behalf of the child’s best interest. Volunteers visit the at risk children, attend court hearings, and advocate for the children’s needs. On average, Court Appointed Special Advocates/ Guardians ad Litem volunteer approximately 10-15 hours a month and work with one family at a time. CASA/GALs must be 21 years of age, pass a criminal background and child welfare check, and complete the 30 hour training course offered at the Summit County Juvenile Court.
