Opportunity: Assist in Preparation for Jury Trial

Attorney John Hill of Buckingham, Doolittle, and Burroughs will be trying a wrongful death case later this year. He is organizing a focus group to serve as a quasi-jury that would react to the evidence as he expects it to be presented at trial. The session would take approximately 2 ½ hours, probably on September 25.  He will pay $35 for each participant in the session. Location and exact time to be determined, but reasonably convenient to the law school.

If you are interested, call his assistant, Kim Dornack, at 330-258-6433 by Wednesday, September 11.

Registration Alert: Health Law IV – Bioethics prerequisite eliminated

If you have tried to or are interested in registering for Health Law IV – Bioethics, we told you earlier that we would be able to waive the prerequisite. We have now been able to eliminate the prerequisite. This is a core required course for the Health Law Certificate. We encourage you to take it in the second year (full-time – 3d year part-time) if possible to set yourself for the Certificate, a Health Law externship, and the strongest possible Health Law credential.

The course will be taught by Dr. Julie Aultman, Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine and Director of the Bioethics Certificate Program, College of Graduate Studies, at the Northeast Ohio Medical University. Dr. Aultman serves on several hospital ethics committees in Northeast Ohio, and acts as a consultant on bioethics issues for healthcare professionals, patients, and their families. She will offer this three-credit course on Friday afternoons, 2:00-5:00 p.m. We will offer the course only in the fall semester.

The course number is 9200-703.
