We welcome you to Cleveland, Ohio, USA on the occasion of 30th International Conference of the Polymer Processing Society (PPS-30) during June 8-12, 2014.
The Polymer Processing Society (PPS) is a truly international professional society of scientists and engineers working in the fields of polymer materials science and engineering. PPS was founded in March 1985 at the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, USA. The intent was to provide a conduit and common platform to foster interactions among scientists and engineers and to present and discuss exciting research results on unique features of polymeric materials and their processing characteristics. The underlying principles of PPS conferences involve undeterred exchange of knowledge and ideas and union of international views on scientific research methods for advancement of processing research.
The polymer world saw many changes in 28 years since the inception of PPS. First, the polymer conversion industry reached maturity. Second, the engineering polymer sector struggled through periods of waning demands. However, the resounding promises presented by nanotechnology, growth of biomaterials, and bright prospect of polymers in flexible solar cells and electronics instilled senses of optimism in all of us. PPS conferences reflect the changes in research and materials demographics and offer appropriate technical programming.
PPS-30 promises to maintain a good balance of programs to serve the attendees from academia and industry. PPS-30 attendees will receive updates on conventional processing technologies and should be ready to embrace the discoveries of new materials and emerging nano- and micro-scale processes in the areas of flexible electronics, soft materials for implants, aerogels, and additive manufacturing. The conference focuses on 17 technical topics and will host 6 plenary speakers, two award lectures, two honorary sessions, two memorial sessions, and 56 keynote lectures. A draft technical program is available here – Final Oral Presentation Program.
PPS-30 is being held at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel located in the city of Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The hotel is centrally located in Cleveland, only steps away from Terminal Tower and Public Square, and with direct train access from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The City of Cleveland is located on the southern side of Lake Erie. It was founded in 1796, has an area of 82.47 square miles, and has a population of close to 400,000.
We invite you to attend the PPS-30 and bring your family and friends and enjoy several activities that we are preparing to offer.
