Inhibitor Microcapsules

A manufacturer or service provider may bring these microcapsules into the environment (or coating) to further prevent corrosion. We’re researching into new encapsulated inhibitors to see how they improve corrosion resistance.

Microcapsules comprising corrosion inhibitors pH-sensitive microcapsules containing NaNO2 corrosion inhibitors for protection of steel reinforced concrete were synthesized via water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) double emulsion using colophony as the wall material. click the link to read more.. https://doi.org/10.1021/acsami.0c13497

SMART CONTROLLED RELEASE CORROSION INHIBITORS FOR STEEL IN CONCRETE

The corrosion of concrete reinforcements is one of the main factors of failure in structural service. In the present project, a new procedure of application of the inhibitors is proposed, so that the release of the inhibitor within the concrete matrix is carried out “on demand” in a controlled manner, that is, the release will occur gradually in function of the pH of the medium and selectively depending on the aggressive agent, chlorides and carbonates involved in the corrosion process. This controlled selective smart release effect can be achieved using microencapsulation.
