Emily Kennedy is originally from Topsfield, MA, a suburb of Boston. She has a B.A. in International Relations (Minor: Environmental Studies) from Colgate University. Emily was introduced to biomimicry during a semester of study abroad at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia. While there, she took a course about the biomimicry potential of Australia’s unique rainforest and reef species. After graduating from Colgate and before enrolling as a member of the first cohort of Biomimicry Fellows at the University of Akron, Emily worked for an environmental consulting firm on national and international business development. Her doctoral advisor is Dr. Peter Niewiarowski of the Biology Department.
