Understanding the role of functional groups in caddisfly underwater adhesion
Michael initially enrolled in The University of Akron as a PhD student in the Department of Polymer Science. Once professors exposed him to the field of biomimicry, Michael switched his focus. To Michael, the most exciting aspect of biomimicry is that learning from nature not only provides technological advancement, but also allows us to discover more about the world and our place in it. He co-authored “Influence of Substrate Modulus on Gecko Adhesion” in the journal Scientific Reports.
