{"id":91,"date":"2018-10-22T19:04:32","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T19:04:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/gchase\/?page_id=91"},"modified":"2020-11-02T21:12:15","modified_gmt":"2020-11-02T21:12:15","slug":"cfnc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/gchase\/cfnc\/","title":{"rendered":"CFNC"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>COALESCENCE FILTRATION NANOFIBERS CONSORTIUM (CFNC)<\/h3>\n<h4>Next CFNC meeting is 13-14 May 2021 at The university of akron, akron ohio<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>MISSION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To teach graduate and undergraduate students to conduct fundamental research in the performance coalescence filters and design of filter media, including the development and application of nanofibers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VISION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through use of fiber materials and through fiber and medium structural geometries the movement and coalescence of droplets can be controlled and optimized.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCOPE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The scope of the work includes theory, modeling, and experiments on capture and coalescence of micron and nanometer size drops in non-woven filter media made of micron and nanometer diameter fibers; methods of nanofiber generation and construction of non-woven media with nanofibers; liquid-liquid and gas-liquid coalescence. Fiber materials include polymers, ceramics, metals, and carbon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ADVISORY BOARD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CFNC Advisory Board reviews student projects, project plans, and makes recommendations as to priorities of which projects should be supported by the CFNC. The CFNC advisory board consists of one representative from each member company and from this membership the board elects a chairperson.
