(1) List your judicial experience (courts and years):
This is my first judicial candidacy experience.

(2) What about your non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a
judge?
My years of diverse legal experience have earned me, at close
proximity, a unique perspective on the public safety, personal battles
and quality of life issues facing Cuyahoga County residents. My parents
both grew up in Cleveland, and my father passed away in 2011 as the
net result of a long struggle with addiction. This personal experience,
coupled with my specialization in criminal defense, has given me an
acute sensitivity to substance abuse and the dangers of unchecked
addiction. My candidacy for Judge is founded on my passion for helping
citizens navigate the complex criminal and civil justice system. I have
been a practicing attorney for 14 years with local firms and for the past
6 years, I have owned a small business in Cuyahoga County. My law
practice, Darling Duffy Legal Services, represents citizens and
businesses with a variety of civil and criminal needs. I lead all trial
matters, providing me with front row experience and expertise on
courtroom procedure and due process.

(3) Why are you running for this particular court seat?
Judge Carolyn Friedland is retiring after a distinguished and admirable
nearly 30 year career as a Judge. My temperament and my passion for
treating all citizens involved in the judicial process with dignity, respect
and compassion is an ideal and appropriate continuation of her
distinguished service. Common Pleas Judges handle the most
consequential and complex criminal and civil cases and my trial
experience prepared me for the difficult decisions that a County Judge
must render.
