Therefore, I have handled a wide
variety of criminal cases.
While in the Economic Crimes Unit, I primarily prosecuted cases
involving multiple co-defendants, fraudulent prescription pill-rings.
This included the prosecution of doctors and nurses for diverting drugs
for their own use and for running pill-mills out of their offices. As a
result, I have had a front-row seat to the opioid epidemic that is
sweeping our nation and our county. During my prosecution of these
cases, I actively and successfully sought treatment options for low-level
offenders while securing lengthy sentences for the offenders that flood
our communities with these highly-addictive drugs.
I am currently in the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit where I
specialize in cases involving the online sexual exploitation of children,
child-victim sexual assault cases where technology was used to assist in
preying upon the victim, and Human Trafficking cases. These are some
of the most serious cases that our communities face, especially with the
increase in technology, social media, and the accessibility of such
devices. I have handled thousands of cases during my career and I have
extensive trial experience as well as research and writing experience.
Due to the specialized and complex cases that I have handled, I am
uniquely qualified to be a judge.

(3) Why are you running for this particular court seat?

I am running for judicial office because I believe that I can have a positive impact on our community. I have worked in public service since I was 16 years old and it is something that I have always been passionate about. There are a lot of issues facing our community (opioid epidemic & youth violence to name a few) that have a direct impact on our children. I believe that we need judges in Juvenile Court that have the proper experience to effectively handle the types of cases that come before it and can make the tough decisions that need to be made. I believe that strengthening upon the programs and specialized dockets that are currently in place can really make a difference in the rehabilitation of our children and I would actively work with the other judges and court staff to seek out new options as well. Docket management/efficiency is a major problem facing many courts and Juvenile Court is no different. I am a firm believer that inefficiency affects not only the parties involved, but also their family members, taxpayers, and our community. I have always been extremely hard working and incredibly efficient and I know that these characteristics, coupled with my legal experience, would make me a great asset to our Juvenile Court bench.

Office: Cuyahoga County – Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas – Juvenile Division Age: 34 Residence: Westlake, OH Email: N/A Website: Facebook: Jennifer L.
