(2) What about your non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a<\/strong>
\njudge?<\/strong>
\nI have dedicated countless hours to community engagement
\nthroughout my career. I have served on the board of Ohio Alliance to
\nEnd Sexual Violence, first as a board member, then as the Vice
\nPresident of the Board. This is a statewide nonprofit coalition that
\nadvocates for comprehensive responses and rape crisis services for
\nsurvivors of sexual violence. In addition, I spent the first part of my legal
\ncareer as a policy advocate in the nonprofit sector. I advocated for
\njuvenile justice reform and for funding for early childhood education.
\nThis included advocating at the state house during the budget process.
\nBecause of this, I know the key stakeholders in Columbus as well as in
\nCuyahoga County. I can work with them to bring about positive change
\nto those who come in front of me as a judge. This has given me
\nengagement with our community\u2019s needs in education and juvenile
\njustice issues and how they can affect people in our community later in
\nlife. My background as a teacher has also given me an understanding
\nand engagement with the community that has helped me to see the
\nimpact of poverty and lack of access to quality education. So many
\nfactors early in life, such as income, education, and contact with the
\njustice system, have far reaching consequences on people later in life.
\nHaving that understanding helps me to have a full perspective on the
\nindividuals that will come before the court.<\/p>\n

(3) Why are you running for this particular court seat?<\/strong>
\nI have worked in this particular court for over 10 years and I know I can
\nbring a unique and effective perspective to the bench. I know how
\nimportant it is to run a fair, impartial, efficient and respectful courtroom
\nand I know what steps to take to achieve this goal. I want to be a judge
\nbecause I want to serve our community. In my view, a judge is elected
\nby the public to administer justice fairly and to help ensure
\nlitigants\u00e2\u20ac™ rights are protected. The public should be able to count
\non a judge to provide a just and fair forum for settling disputes and
\nconflicts. I believe I would be a fair, grounded, and effective public
\nservant in that role. Conflicts should be decided on the facts and the
\nlaw, not egos, worry over dockets, or other considerations that do not
\ninvolve justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
