I consider the position to be an<br \/>\nadministrative position rather than judicial, but I did enjoy hearing<br \/>\nevidence presented from talented attorneys and ruling on the issues<br \/>\npresented.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(2) What about your non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>judge?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe courts of appeals primary function is to hear appeals and review<br \/>\ndecisions of common pleas and municipal and county courts. I<br \/>\nrepresent clients in those court systems throughout Northwest Ohio<br \/>\neveryday. Legal decisions, opinions, footnotes, and precedent are<br \/>\nimportant factors in the law and my practice. It is also important to<br \/>\nunderstand the effects of the application of the law. I have direct<br \/>\ncontact with my clients and understand how the law effects their daily<br \/>\nlives which makes me the best candidate for the position.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(3) Why are you running for this particular court seat?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe 6th District Court of Appeals is unique in its geographical and<br \/>\ndemographic make up. Half of the residents live in the urban Toledo<br \/>\narea and the other half live in the rural area. Currently, all five court of<br \/>\nappeals judges are from Toledo or an immediate suburb. I grew up and<br \/>\nwent to primary school in the Eastwood Local School District \u2013 a rural<br \/>\ndistrict. I live in Wood County. I represented Wood County as<br \/>\ncommissioner. I understand the unique issues faced by rural residents,<br \/>\nsuch as, agriculture, drainage, industry, and recently pipelines. I also<br \/>\nattended and graduated from engineering and law school in Toledo. I<br \/>\nwork regularly in Toledo. I understand the issues, assets, and challenges<br \/>\nof the urban area.
