{"id":13841,"date":"2013-03-11T10:31:27","date_gmt":"2013-03-11T14:31:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/?p=13841"},"modified":"2013-03-11T10:31:27","modified_gmt":"2013-03-11T14:31:27","slug":"blsa-moot-court-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/2013\/03\/11\/blsa-moot-court-results\/","title":{"rendered":"BLSA &#8211; Moot Court Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past weekend, eighteen teams participated in the Fredrick Douglas Moot Court National Competition, including Akron&#8217;s team of <strong>Terence Baptiste\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong>Eric Foster<\/strong>, coached by professors <strong>Elizabeth Shaver<\/strong> and <strong>Rick Strong<\/strong>. Eric and Terence argued three times on Thursday, and the top 8 teams advanced to the semi-finals on Friday. Unfortunately, Eric and Terence did not advance to the semi-final, but the team they beat in the first round placed second overall. According to Terence, &#8220;It seems like we barely missed the semi-final based on the teams we beat [in the] first round.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Eric and Terence did not come home empty handed, however. The National Black Law Students Association presented Akron Law&#8217;s BLSA chapter with the <strong>Small Chapter of the Year Award<\/strong>.
