\nSUMMER JOB PLACEMENT AWARD
\nAPPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2015
\n$2,500.00 to one upper division law student
\nMust work 20 hours per week for not less than 10 weeks
\nThe School of Law is accepting applications for the David D. Dowd Sr. Memorial Award. Named in tribute to a\u00a0distinguished attorney dedicated to public service and created by Judge David D. Dowd, Jr. upon the 25th anniversary of\u00a0his service in the federal judiciary, the purpose of the Dowd Award is to promote a commitment to public service for all\u00a0lawyers. Dowd Awards are directed to Akron Law students interested in seeking professional careers in public service\u00a0following graduation.
\nTo be eligible, you must:
\n1. Complete your second year by Spring of 2015
\n2. Show a commitment to public service
\n3. Be capable of working 20 hours per week during the summer of 2015 for minimum of ten weeks
\nin a public service position
\n4. Be committed to working in a public setting upon graduation\u00a0Placements this summer – in order of preference:
\n1st Preference: The Summit County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, The Stark County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, The Wayne County\u00a0Prosecutor\u2019s Office; law departments for Akron, Canton, Massillon; and Public Defender\u2019s Offices in\u00a0Summit and Stark counties.
\n2nd Preference: The U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Northern District of Ohio or the Public Defender\u2019s Office for the\u00a0District
\n3rd Preference: Other prosecutors\u2019 or law directors\u2019 offices
