Nagy. He is a student at the University of Akron School of Law and recently completed his second year.

Eligibility requirements included being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, enrollment in an ABA accredited law school within the United States, and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Mr. Nagy was selected based upon the strength of his essay and accomplishments.

We asked law students to give their point of view on how current laws impact employees’ legal rights regarding workplace injuries. Do they feel their state’s laws are too strict or too lenient regarding workers’ compensation?

Our attorneys are particularly impressed with Mr. Nagy’s insight and suggestions for improvement to Ohio’s workers’ compensation system. Some of the issues raised in his essay are listed below and impact workers’ compensation systems across the U.S.:

• Recognizing that claimants often have a difficult time proving an aggravation of a pre-existing condition.

• Seeing a need to update laws based upon machinery and industrial practices dating back several decades.

• Acknowledging that claimants with mental health conditions are sometimes overlooked and a change of thinking might be necessary.

• Examining inconsistencies among hearing officers and suggesting a more uniform standard.

We wish Christopher continued success as he pursues his law degree at the University of Akron. Michigan Workers Comp Lawyers offer the Workers’ Comp Law Scholarship every year with a June 1st deadline.
