{"id":34363,"date":"2016-04-19T10:24:23","date_gmt":"2016-04-19T14:24:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/?p=34363"},"modified":"2016-04-19T10:35:55","modified_gmt":"2016-04-19T14:35:55","slug":"summer-access-to-lexis-westlaw-and-bloomberg-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/2016\/04\/19\/summer-access-to-lexis-westlaw-and-bloomberg-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Access to Lexis, Westlaw and Bloomberg Law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Summer Access to Lexis Advance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Access to Lexis Advance will continue during the summer.\u00a0 As long as you are registered for Lexis\u00a0Advance you do not have to do anything to continue using Lexis Advance this summer. \u00a0You may use Lexis Advance for work or school during the summer. \u00a0In the fall, usage reverts back to academic use only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summer Access to Westlaw<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Westlaw is available for academic use over the summer. \u00a0To access Westlaw over the summer, students need to <a href=\"https:\/\/lawschool.westlaw.com\/marketing\/display\/MI\/473\">register<\/a> on Westlaw.\u00a0\u00a0 Log onto Westlaw and click on the image that says summer access.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"grayText bold\">You can extend your Westlaw password for summer use if you participate in one of the following:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"greytext\">\n<li>Summer law school classes and study abroad programs<\/li>\n<li>Law review and journal &#8211; including write-on competitions<\/li>\n<li>Research assistant<\/li>\n<li>Moot court<\/li>\n<li>Unpaid internship\/externship<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Passwords may NOT be used for research for law firms, government agencies, corporations or other purposes unrelated to law school coursework.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bloomberg Law<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Access to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjOvbjNy4nMAhUFeD4KHZl6D8cQFggkMAA&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bloomberglaw.com%2F&amp;usg=AFQjCNEyWSPs3-u1cIMZZrSTQsOZmrOulQ&amp;sig2=lLAqCxxgtX4of3ik0ZXMfg\">Bloomberg Law<\/a> continues over the summer. \u00a0You may use your Bloomberg Law password for any purpose during the summer as well as year-round. \u00a0The court dockets and transactional resources may be particularly useful to those working at law firms over the summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other databases<\/strong> accessible over the summer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students can sign up for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohiobar.org\/Membership\/Join\/Pages\/StaticPage-272.aspx\">free Ohio State Bar Membership<\/a>, which includes access to the <strong>Casemaker<\/strong> legal research database<\/li>\n<li>Continue to use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/law\/about-us\/law-library-database.dot\">Law Library databases<\/a>\u00a0such as HeinOnline and Proquest Legislative Insight.<\/li>\n<li><a id=\"link_25239427\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcase.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Free Fastcase App<\/a>\u00a0for iPhone or Android<\/li>\n<li>For free databases on the Internet, see\u00a0<a id=\"link_22732169\" href=\"http:\/\/law.uakron.libguides.com\/federallaw\" target=\"_blank\">United States Federal Law &#8211;
