Constitution Day is a national celebration of the day the U.S. Constitution was signed. The United States Congress passed legislation in 2005 making it mandatory for every institution of higher education in the U.S. to celebrate Constitution Day on or around Sept. 17th on their campuses. Activities for the week include: <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Week of Sept. 13<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For people who have an interest in observing a constitutional law class, seats will be available the week of Sept. 13 in Professor Will Huhn\u2019s class, which meets Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 &#8211; 8:50 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursdays 9-10:30 a.m. in Room 151 or they can attend Professor Bill Rich\u2019s class on Wednesday from 6:30 \u2013 7:50 p.m. or Thursday from 8:10 \u2013 9:30 p.m. in Room 165.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, Sept. 15<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Constitution Day Displays<br \/>\n<\/strong>School of Law Library and Bierce Library<br \/>\nLearn more about constitutional history and resources at the Constitution Day displays in School of Law and Bierce Libraries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe Effects of the Civil Rights Movement Upon the U.S. Constitution\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong>12:15 \u2013 1 p.m.<br \/>\nSchool of Law Room Atrium<br \/>\nProfessor Will Huhn will discuss the Civil Rights Movement and its profound impact on America and on the interpretation of the Constitution of the United States.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, Sept. 16<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;The 10th Amendment: Liberty&#8217;s Best Hope or Tea Party Delusion?&#8221;\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/strong>12:15 \u2013 1 p.m. in Room 151 at the School of Law<br \/>\nRobert Alt, a Senior Legal Fellow and Deputy Director of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies\u00a0of the Heritage Foundation, will give a talk focused on renewed interests in the 10th Amendment by tea party groups, especially those states\/groups trying to use it to get the Healthcare\u00a0Law declared unconstitutional.\u00a0Commentary will be presented on his talk by Professor Richard Aynes, Director of the Constitutional Law Center at the School of Law.
