Applications for funding for the <strong>Spring 2017 <\/strong>Public Interest Law (PIL) Program will be accepted beginning Monday, January 9, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Students interested in applying for a <strong>Spring 2017 <\/strong>Public Interest Law award should begin thinking now about securing a placement for their spring PIL work experience. The Public Interest Law Program supports and encourages those students who would like to gain experience in public interest areas. Recent local placements have included:<\/p>\n<p>Community Legal Aid Services of Akron<\/p>\n<p>City of Canton, Public Safety and Service Departments<\/p>\n<p>Council of International Programs USA<\/p>\n<p>Mahoning County Prosecutor<\/p>\n<p>National Labor Relations Board<\/p>\n<p>Ninth District Court of Appeals Ohio<\/p>\n<p>Civil Rights Commission U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office<\/p>\n<p>Stark County Public Defender&#8217;s Office<\/p>\n<p>Stow Law Department<\/p>\n<p>Summit County Prosecutor<\/p>\n<p>University of Akron Legal Clinics<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit<\/p>\n<p>If you think you would like to obtain a public interest internship, but have no idea how to line up a placement, please feel free to call upon Asst. Dean of Career Planning, Alisa Benedict O\u2019Brien.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to submit your application for <strong>SPRING 2017 <\/strong>PIL funding is<strong><em><u> Monday, January 23\u00a0at 12:00 Noon.<\/u> \u00a0<\/em><\/strong>You must secure a public interest placement <em>before <\/em>submitting your application.
