The ABA’s Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability is accepting essays in the 2017 Ed Mendrzycki Essay Contest. The topic addresses\u00a0ethical concerns arising under the Model Rules of Professional Conduct where a law firm wishes to associate with\u00a0litigation-funding companies, including undertaking representation of\u00a0one such company while also recommending the company’s services to the firm’s clients.<\/p>\n
The winner receives a $5,000 cash prize and an all-expense-paid trip to Boston in April 2017 to attend the Committee’s National Legal Malpractice Conference. Essays must be e-mailed or postmarked by March 3, 2017. Students must be members of the ABA to participate (you can enroll for basic membership for free on the ABA’s website).<\/p>\n
