This program is for students from traditionally underrepresented groups including Native American or Alaskan Native, Asian or Pacific Islander, African-American or Black, Hispanic, or a member of the LGBT community.<br \/>\nThe Diversity Summer Clerkship Program is just one element of the commitment. Through this program, select students will receive real-world legal experience, develop fundamental research and writing skills, and receive networking training necessary for a solid foundation to a successful and impactful legal career.<br \/>\n\u2022\tApplications will be solicited from students at all Ohio law schools<br \/>\n\u2022\tUpon applying, candidates will rank their employer preferences<br \/>\n\u2022\tMembers of TMLS will review applications and recommend candidates to employers\\<br \/>\n\u2022\tUpon agreeing to participate in the program, each employer must inform TMLS as to its preference between rising 2L and rising 3L students<br \/>\n\u2022\tEach employer will employ at least one candidate for the summer<br \/>\n\u2022\tEmployers are responsible for scheduling interviews with individual candidates<br \/>\n\u2022\tEach employer will make its own final hiring and salary decisions<br \/>\n\u2022\tEach selected candidate is required to attend the TMLS seminar on workplace etiquette and legal writing skills prior to the start of the clerkship<br \/>\n\u2022\tClerkships will last ten weeks, running from approximately May 15 through July 28<br \/>\n\u2022\tAlthough individual schedules must be worked out with employers, students should expect to work at least 30-40 hours per week.<br \/>\nHow to apply:  Fill out the application and send:<br \/>\n\u2022\tApplication (may be picked up in Law 110, the Career Center or Central Hower 301)<br \/>\n\u2022\tCover Letter \u2013 including explanation of how background will increase diversity in the Dayton bar)<br \/>\n\u2022\tResume<br \/>\n\u2022\tWriting Sample (no longer than five pages)<br \/>\n\u2022\tMost recent transcript<br \/>\n\u2022\tCurrent class curriculum<br \/>\nDEADLINE for receipt \u2013 February 3, 2017 \u2013 Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
