{"id":41967,"date":"2017-02-06T14:48:53","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T19:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/?p=41967"},"modified":"2017-01-30T14:49:18","modified_gmt":"2017-01-30T19:49:18","slug":"aba-commission-on-women-in-the-profession-commissioners-present-the-ms-jd-fellowship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/2017\/02\/06\/aba-commission-on-women-in-the-profession-commissioners-present-the-ms-jd-fellowship\/","title":{"rendered":"ABA Commission on Women in the Profession Commissioners present the Ms. JD Fellowship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Ms. JD Fellowship is now open for applications!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2010, Ms. JD partnered with the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession to found the <a href=\"http:\/\/ms-jd.org\/programs\/fellowship\">Ms. JD Fellowship<\/a>. \u00a0The Fellowship is Ms. JD&#8217;s program to promote mentoring and professional development. \u00a0Each spring, Ms. JD selects a group of outstanding second year law students as Fellowship recipients. \u00a0In addition to receiving financial support and invitations to ABA and Ms. JD events, each Fellowship recipient is paired with a mentor chosen from among the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanbar.org\/groups\/women\/initiatives_awards\/margaret_brent_awards.html\">Brent Award<\/a>\u00a0honorees, Spirit of Excellence Award recipients,\u00a0and ABA Commission on Women in the Profession Commissioners. \u00a0Beyond the mentorship, each year, the Fellows tell us that one of the best parts of the Fellowship is meeting the other incredible rising 3Ls. \u00a0Many Fellows remain friends long after their fellowship\u00a0year is over. \u00a0\u00a0To read more about the experience of past Fellows, click\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ms-jd.org\/blog\/article\/ms-jd-fellowship-training-future-women-leaders-law\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ms-jd.org\/blog\/article\/mentorship-matters-the-ms.-jd-fellowship-experience\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s what you&#8217;ll need to submit to apply for the Fellowship:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Resume (Must include a link to your LinkedIn Profile); 2. Unofficial Law School Transcript(s); 3. One paragraph (250 words) answering the question, \u201cThere are many mentorship programs for law students; why would you like to participate in the Ms. JD Fellowship?\u201d; 4. One paragraph (250 words) answering the question, \u201cDescribe how you have demonstrated leadership ability, both in and out of law school.\u201d; 5. One paragraph (250 words) answering the question, \u201cIf you had to contribute to the Ms. JD community by writing a blog post, what would you discuss and why?\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> One paragraph (250 words) answering the question, \u201cDescribe in detail an event that you would like to organize at your law school that promotes women in the law.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>**Specific application instructions**: All application materials must be submitted in a single PDF file titled &#8220;[First Name Last Name] Fellowship Application&#8221; with a cover page that lists First &amp; Last Name, Law School, GPA, LinkedIn Profile Link, Email, and Phone Number. \u00a0Applications that are not submitted in this format will not be considered.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Why Do You Ask For My LinkedIn Profile? \u00a0We&#8217;re asking you for your LinkedIn profile because having one is a huge part of your professional identity. \u00a0If you haven&#8217;t developed your profile yet, now is a great time to start! \u00a0Also, from a\u00a0practical standpoint,\u00a0there&#8217;s a Fellows group on LinkedIn that allows all of the Fellows from the previous classes to interact with one another.<\/p>\n<p>Submit your application to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:fellowship@ms-jd.org\">fellowship@ms-jd.org<\/a>. \u00a0Applications are due Friday,\u00a0March 31, 2017, at 11:59 pm Central Time. \u00a0Ms. JD plans to announce Fellowship finalists by the end of\u00a0April. \u00a0Finalists will then\u00a0complete interviews\u00a0with Ms. JD Board Members and Staff\u00a0by the end of May, and the Ms. JD Fellows and their mentors will be announced by mid-July.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact the Fellowship Coordinator, Maleaha Brown, at fellowship@ms-jd.org.\u00a0 <strong>We look forward to receiving your application!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ms. JD Fellowship is now open for applications!
