Rethinking Race takes place over two weeks, from February 3rd to February 19th. The full calendar of events is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!view\/all\">here. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many of the events are law-related or sponsored by Law School organizations or faculty. Here are some highlights:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5776\/view\/event\/date\/20170203\">Friday, February 3rd at 6:00 p.m<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Student Union Theater<\/p>\n<p>This is a powerful documentary by Ave DuVernay about the racial impact of the criminal justice system since the passage of the 13th Amendment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5829\/view\/event\/date\/20170206\"><strong>Jane Elliot<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5829\/view\/event\/date\/20170206\">Monday, February 6th, \u00a06:00 pm to 9:00 pm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>E.J. Thomas Hall<\/p>\n<p>Since her famous classroom exercises with White students during the Civil Rights movement, keynote speaker Jane Elliot has been an internationally known teacher and trainer on the nature of prejudice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5826\/view\/event\/date\/20170209\"><strong>Dr. Mahzarin Banaji<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5826\/view\/event\/date\/20170209\">Thursday, February 9th, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quaker Station<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Banaji is one of the principal researchers behind the Implicit Association Tests that have exposed the extensive distribution of implicit bias along a broad spectrum of characteristics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5861\/view\/event\/date\/20170214\"><strong>Tea Time for Peace<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5861\/view\/event\/date\/20170214\">Tuesday, February 14th, 5:00 to 7:00 pm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speed-dating style conversations with Muslims, presented by the Law School\u2019s Social Justice Project, with the support of the Muslim Law Students Association.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5860\/view\/event\/date\/20170214\"><strong>Soul Food for Thought<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/race\/calendar\/#!event_id\/5860\/view\/event\/date\/20170214\">Tuesday, February 14th, 12:30 to 2:00 pm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A panel on civility and civil rights sponsored by the Black Law Students Association and moderated by Professor Lee.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are many other events,<\/strong> including the movie Loving, discussions about the 2016 elections, and the results of DNA testing for 30 members of the campus community.
