{"id":43711,"date":"2017-03-28T13:26:42","date_gmt":"2017-03-28T17:26:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/?p=43711"},"modified":"2017-03-28T13:26:42","modified_gmt":"2017-03-28T17:26:42","slug":"ohio-attorney-general-externship-for-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/2017\/03\/28\/ohio-attorney-general-externship-for-summer\/","title":{"rendered":"Ohio Attorney General Externship for Summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Cleveland, OH \u2013 Externship \u2013 Ohio Attorney General <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the Cleveland Regional Office, we represent 17 sections of the Ohio Attorney General\u2019s Office; have 45 attorneys and an office total of approximately 80-85 persons.\u00a0 We operate our Regional Intern\/Extern Program by a representative committee and give the students a comprehensive experience.\u00a0 We have two mentors (male and female), a writing coach, external events coordinators and generational diversity.\u00a0 Students may have the opportunity to work with different attorneys in various sections.\u00a0 We are litigation-intensive and the students will write motions, memos and briefs, attend depositions and court hearings and learn to network and enhance their collegial and professional skills in an open, gracious and warm environment in Cleveland.\u00a0 We also partner with county and federal court systems for \u201cCourt Week\u201d where our interns shadow judges and learn the reasoning and rationale behind court decisions.\u00a0 These are just a few of the planned activities for our Externs.<\/p>\n<p>The work and skills, professionalism and progress of our Law Clerks are monitored closely by our committee.\u00a0 We are firm when we have to be\u2014our mentors correct when needed.\u00a0 Overall, we have a helpful office to those learning the ropes\u2014many attorneys don\u2019t hesitate to reach out, cultivate, support and teach\u2014and we take our roles seriously.<\/p>\n<p><em>How to apply<\/em>: Interested students should submit their resume to Alisa Benedict O\u2019Brien: <a href=\"mailto:ab139@uakron.edu\">ab139@uakron.edu<\/a> for consideration. <strong><em>Put \u201cOhio Attorney General\u2013 Summer Externship Application\u201d in the subject line.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is an unpaid position but you may earn externship credit (please contact Asst. Dean O\u2019Brien), or you may apply for funding through the Public Interest Stipend.
