{"id":45767,"date":"2017-06-14T11:59:33","date_gmt":"2017-06-14T15:59:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/?p=45767"},"modified":"2017-06-14T12:03:03","modified_gmt":"2017-06-14T16:03:03","slug":"esl-international-student-accommodation-1st-5-week-summer-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/2017\/06\/14\/esl-international-student-accommodation-1st-5-week-summer-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"ESL &#8211; International Student Accommodation &#8211; 1st 5 week Summer 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>International students for whom English is a second language may receive up to 50% additional time on School of Law exams and may also request exam usage of a native language translation dictionary.<\/li>\n<li>Students should request additional time and or use of dictionaries for both midterms and finals through Students Services at the School of Law and by completing the <a href=\"http:\/\/uakron.edu\/law\/docs\/ESL%20Exam%20Accommodation%20Request%20Form.pdf\">International Student Exam Accommodation Request Form<\/a> and submitting it to the Assistant Dean of Global Engagement Patrick Gaughan.<\/li>\n<li>All Accommodation Request Forms must be submitted at least two weeks before an examination and require approval from the Office of Student Services and the course professor. \u00a0Accommodation of each type is discretionary only.<\/li>\n<li>Translation dictionaries are not provided by the Office of Student Services. \u00a0The dictionary may not contain additional writing.<\/li>\n<li>The School of Law faculty\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>strongly encourages<\/strong><\/span> international students for whom English is a second language to gradually take law school exams without any additional time in preparation for the bar examination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">If you intend to request\u00a0accommodations for your exams on <strong>Friday, June 30, 2017<\/strong>, you must complete the <a href=\"http:\/\/uakron.edu\/law\/docs\/ESL%20Exam%20Accommodation%20Request%20Form.pdf\">International Student Exam Accommodation Request Form<\/a> and submit it to \u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Assistant Director Misty Franklin by Monday, June 19, 2017, due to Assistant Dean Gaughan&#8217;s summer schedule.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>International students for whom English is a second language may receive up to 50% additional time on School of Law exams and may also request exam usage of a native language translation dictionary.
