Benesch\u2019s 1L Diversity Fellowship<\/strong><\/p>\n

To further support Benesch\u2019s diversity initiatives, the firm has created the 1L Diversity Fellowship for
\nfirst year law students who identify as racially or ethnically diverse, LGBTQ and\/or identify as having a
\ndisability. This is a paid position within the firm\u2019s Cleveland, OH office and is part of our Summer
\nAssociate Program. The 1L Diversity Fellowship also includes participation in the Leadership Council on
\nLegal Diversity (LCLD) 1L Scholars Summit, which takes place May 22\u201024, 2018 in Philadelphia, PA.<\/p>\n

Educational and training programs are provided and go hand\u2010in\u2010hand with your direct work experience.
\nSome of the training programs offered are part of the firm\u2019s year\u2010round program through department
\nmeetings and specially planned events. Other programs, such as our Summer Associate Retreat are
\nexclusively created for you.<\/p>\n

Our summer associates have immediate contact with clients and are involved in strategy, negotiating
\nand drafting sessions, as well as business development meetings. As part of Benesch’s Summer
\nAssociate Program, you will receive a variety of work, both in terms of substantive areas of law and in
\nthe types of projects assigned. We review each summer associate\u2019s work on an individual basis and
\nattempt to include assignments which go beyond standard research projects, although such projects are
\nimportant in developing your skills and enabling us to learn more about your strengths and weaknesses.<\/p>\n

Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n

Candidates must be full\u2010time first year law students enrolled in an ABA\u2010accredited law school, with an
\nexpected graduation date of spring 2020. Requirements for application include:<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 Exceptional academic performance;
\n\uf0b7 Outstanding leadership abilities and involvement in diversity organizations;
\n\uf0b7 A commitment to community service; and
\n\uf0b7 Strong interpersonal skills<\/p>\n
