SUMMER JOB PLACEMENT AWARD<\/strong><\/p>\n

$2000.00 minimum to one upper division law student\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Must work 20 hours per week for not less than 10 weeks<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2011<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>The School of Law is accepting applications for the David D. Dowd Sr. Memorial Award<\/span><\/strong> named in tribute to a distinguished attorney dedicate to public service and created by Judge David D. Dowd, Jr. upon the 25th<\/sup> anniversary of his service in the federal judiciary. \u00a0Dowd Awards are directed to Akron Law students interested in seeking professional careers in public service following graduation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Eligibility: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Completed your second year by the Spring of 2010<\/li>\n
  2. Shown a commitment to public service<\/li>\n
  3. Capable of working\u00a0 20 hours per week the summer of 2011 for minimum\u00a0 of ten weeks in a public service position<\/li>\n
  4. Committed to working in a public setting upon graduation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u00a0Placements this summer – in order of preference:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    1st<\/sup> Preference:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The Summit County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, The Stark County<\/p>\n

    Prosecutor\u2019s Office, The Wayne County Prosecutor\u2019s Office;<\/p>\n

    law departments for Akron, Canton, Massillon; and Public<\/p>\n

    Defender\u2019s Offices in Summit and Stark counties<\/p>\n

    \u00a02nd<\/sup> Preference:<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Northern District of Ohio or<\/p>\n

    The Public\u00a0Defender\u2019s Office for the District<\/p>\n

    \u00a03rd<\/sup> Preference:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Other prosecutors\u2019 or law directors\u2019 offices<\/p>\n

    \u00a04th<\/sup> Preference:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Other not already listed public service agencies<\/p>\n

    \u00a0The student will be expected to work 20 hours per week for not less than 10 weeks.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
