I am pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the eighth annual Moyer Fellowship Program, sponsored by the Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer Legacy Committee of the Ohio State Bar Association, with the support of the Ohio State Bar Foundation. The Moyer Fellowship Program was established in 2012 to honor the late Chief Justice and sustain his dedication to the administration of justice and public understanding of the law, including tenets such as legal and civic education, dispute resolution, ethics, civility, judicial independence, and the rule of law.<\/em><\/p>\n

The 2019 Moyer Fellowship will be awarded to two first- or second-year law students enrolled in an Ohio law school.\u00a0 The Committee especially encourages applications that involve original research projects.<\/em><\/p>\n

Since the inception of the Moyer Fellowship, the Legacy Committee has increased its share of the Fellowship award to $4,000.\u00a0 The Committee asks the law schools of the successful applicants to contribute $1,000 in funds for a total award of $5,000.\u00a0 To participate in the program, the law schools of the successful applicants must make a commitment to supplement the grant with a $1,000 contribution.<\/em><\/p>\n

The forms and a program description page are included with this mailing, and an electronic version will also be sent to you.\u00a0 Please distribute this information to your students.<\/em><\/p>\n

Applications must be submitted not later than Monday, March 18, 2019 <\/strong>to Jennifer Harrell at jharrell@ohiobar.org<\/a> or Simon’e Lightfoot at slightfoot@ohiobar.org<\/a>.\u00a0 Questions should be directed to Moyer Legacy Committee Member, Rick Dove, at rick.dove@sc.ohio.gov<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n
