POSITION TWO \u2013 Summer 2019 Patent Externship \u2013 UNPAID\u00a0<\/strong>
The NASA GRC OCC Summer PATENT EXTERNSHIP focuses on the practice of patent law. Externs will get to experience the role of an in-house patent attorney first hand while working on special projects closely with a NASA Supervising Patent Attorney. Extern projects include, for example, researching IP-related issues, evaluating new invention disclosures, assessing patentability searches, participating in discussions with scientists and technology transfer members regarding commercialization and patentability supporting efforts to draft new patent applications and responding to patent office actions before the US Patent Office, and assisting with the submission of patent filing documents such as inventor assignments and declarations.
Qualifications: 1L, 2L; U.S. Citizen, valid state-issued photo ID, consent to a background check, A bachelor\u2019s degree in a science of engineering field (eligible to sit for the U.S. Patent Bar Exam), strong writing and research skills, and completed at least one year of law school when the summer begins. Requirements: Prefer: Completion of a patent law course is preferred.\u00a0
