We&#8217;re a multiracial,\ndiverse staff committed to building the power of the people and communities we\nrepresent. Whether it&#8217;s immigration detention, solitary confinement, the\nMovement for Black Lives, Muslin profiling, or Palestinian human rights, we\nfight for civil and human rights through the creative use of litigation and\nadvocacy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Roles and Responsibilities: <\/strong>Interns work\nunder the direct supervision of CCR attorneys and advocacy program managers on\nCCR cases and projects. Interns also participate in trainings on litigation\nskills, movement lawyering, and other relevant topics. Interns&#8217;\nresponsibilities may include: Legal research and writing for domestic and\ninternational litigation, factual investigation, client and witness interviews,\npolicy\/legislative research, and participation in client and community\nmeetings. In addition, students are provided opportunities to attend court proceedings,\ncommunity, and client meetings, and attend other law-related panels and\nevents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program Dates: <\/strong>The internship\nwill begin on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, and end on August 7, 2020. Interns are\nexpected to work 40 hours per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications: <\/strong>Must have\ncompleted their 2L year of law school by the summer of 2020. CCR does not\naccept law graduates in the Ella Baker program. Excellent legal research and\ncommunication skills. Experience and\/or a demonstrated commitment to racial\njustice, gender justice, civil rights, international human rights, national\nsecurity law, and\/or social justice organizing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compensation: <\/strong>Because there\nare limited resources, CCR requires applicants to make diligent efforts to\nsecure summer funding from their law schools. If you are not able to get\nfunding from your school, or your school provides funding of less than $6,000,\nCCR&nbsp;<strong>WILL<\/strong>&nbsp;provide you with summer funding or will\nsupplement your school&#8217;s funding. Accepted students will receive more\ninformation about this process after receiving notice of their acceptance.
