{"id":76575,"date":"2020-03-18T06:45:08","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T10:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/?p=76575"},"modified":"2020-03-17T08:23:59","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T12:23:59","slug":"important-information-about-school-of-law-operations-going-forward-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/2020\/03\/18\/important-information-about-school-of-law-operations-going-forward-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Important information about School of Law operations going forward"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Akron Law students, faculty, and staff,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to implement <a href=\"https:\/\/nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.uakron.edu%2Fhealthservices%2Fnews%2F&amp;data=02%7C01%7Csa_dp105%40uakron.edu%7C9a9c073e633e45722a9308d7c9ef26aa%7Ce8575dedd7f94ecea4aa0b32991aeedd%7C0%7C0%7C637199901306181722&amp;sdata=4rew6RoW9BsE8Fe%2FTs4US%2Fw1fqHWfERE1XE7FWScdF0%3D&amp;reserved=0\">President\nMiller\u2019s recent announcement<\/a> regarding campus operations during the\nCOVID-19 outbreak, the School of Law is taking the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>All courses will be taught in online format through the\n     end of the spring semester.<\/strong>&nbsp; Final exams will be administered on a take-home\n     basis during the revised exam period (May 7-15).&nbsp; While the exact\n     format and timing of exams will differ by course, students should assume\n     for now that their exams will take place at the date and time provided in\n     the revised exam schedule, which is posted on Brightspace.&nbsp; We will\n     work with faculty to plan and administer exams as fairly and efficiently\n     as possible.&nbsp; More information will follow.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Beginning Wednesday, March 18<sup>th<\/sup>,<\/strong> <strong>building access will\n     be limited to essential personnel and activities only.<\/strong>&nbsp; Students,\n     faculty, and most administrators and staff will not have access to the\n     building absent a compelling reason.&nbsp; If you have any items you need\n     to retrieve from the building to facilitate your working or studying\n     remotely, please retrieve them no later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp;\n     You will need your swipe card or key to access the building after 5:00 pm\n     today (Monday, March 16<sup>th<\/sup>).&nbsp; After 5:00 pm on Tuesday,\n     March 17<sup>th<\/sup>, swipe cards will not work and access will be\n     limited to essential personnel.&nbsp; If you think you have a compelling\n     reason to access the building after Tuesday, March 17<sup>th<\/sup>, please\n     send an email to Dean Janoski-Haehlen (<a href=\"mailto:ejanoskihaehlen@uakron.edu\">ejanoskihaehlen@uakron.edu<\/a>),\n     Assistant Dean Bobbs (<a href=\"mailto:bobbs@uakron.edu\">bobbs@uakron.edu<\/a>),\n     and me (<a href=\"mailto:cpeters1@uakron.edu\">cpeters1@uakron.edu<\/a>)\n     explaining when you would need building access and the reason for the\n     access.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Class registration will open on Monday, March 30<sup>th<\/sup>\n     at noon.<\/strong>&nbsp;\n     The mandatory advising session will be made available on Brightspace.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Faculty, administrators, and staff will continue to be\n     available for students during this period.<\/strong>&nbsp; We understand your concern about whether the\ncommencement ceremony will take place as scheduled on May 17<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp;\nAs of now, the University has not decided whether any of the commencement\nceremonies will go forward as planned.&nbsp; (That is a University decision,\nnot a School of Law decision.)&nbsp; It remains possible that our commencement\nwill go forward on May 17<sup>th<\/sup>, or that it could be rescheduled for a\nlater date.&nbsp; We will let you know as soon as we have any additional\nrelevant information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know these ongoing events have added more stress to what\nis already a stressful time of the semester.&nbsp; While the circumstances are\nhardly ideal, we have a plan in place that will allow every student to finish\nthe semester and (where applicable) graduate and sit for the bar on time.&nbsp;\nWe are committed to our students\u2019 success and to giving our students the\nsupport they will need to achieve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also are committed to the health and safety of every\nmember of the Akron Law family.<strong>&nbsp;
