{"id":77831,"date":"2020-05-09T07:29:08","date_gmt":"2020-05-09T11:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/?p=77831"},"modified":"2020-05-01T08:10:20","modified_gmt":"2020-05-01T12:10:20","slug":"akron-law-alumni-association-seeks-2020-2021-associate-student-director-application-deadline-september-4-2020-500-p-m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/2020\/05\/09\/akron-law-alumni-association-seeks-2020-2021-associate-student-director-application-deadline-september-4-2020-500-p-m\/","title":{"rendered":"Akron Law Alumni Association seeks 2020\/2021 Associate Student Director \u2013 Application Deadline: September 4, 2020, 5:00 p.m."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Message from Andreas Ellis, Director of Alumni and Development:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Akron Law Alumni Association (\u201cLAA\u201d) Board of\nDirectors has a dedicated position on its Board for an Associate Student Director.&nbsp;\nThis is a two-year appointment through June 30, 2022; the first year\n(2020\/2021) as the Associate Student Director, and the second year (2021\/2022) transitioning\nto the Student Director position.&nbsp; The\nBoard is seeking a 1L or 2L law student in good standing for the Associate\nStudent Director position.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This unique and valuable opportunity provides the Associate\nStudent Director a chance to become involved in alumni leadership and activities\nwith the Law School.&nbsp; The Associate Student\nDirector works with the Student Director to represent Akron Law students, and\nworks with the Student Director and Board to identify ways in which students\nand alumni may work and communicate together for the benefit of both\ngroups.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Associate Student Director serves in an\nex-officio capacity and is expected to attend all Board meetings which are held\nat the School of Law on a bi-monthly basis throughout the year (i.e., October,\nDecember, February, April, June, and August.)&nbsp; The Board meetings begin at\n4:30 p.m., and generally last for one and a half hours.&nbsp; The Associate\nStudent Director is also expected to attend all LAA events (i.e., the Holiday\nParty, the Student-Alumni Cocktail Party, the Akron Law Alumni Awards\nBreakfast, and any other event sponsored by the LAA.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications for the 2020\/2021 Associate Student Director\nto the LAA Board should include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Why\nhe or she wants to serve on the LAA Board;<\/li><li>Why\nthe student believes that he or she should be selected for the position; and,<\/li><li>A\ncopy of the student\u2019s resume. &nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The LAA Board\u2019s Nominating Committee will review the applications and select students who will be invited to interview at a mutually agreeable time in mid-September 2020.&nbsp; Students with questions should contact Andreas Ellis, Director of Alumni and Development, at <a href=\"mailto:ellis@uakron.edu\">ellis@uakron.edu<\/a> or 330-972-5298.&nbsp; Students interested in this position should email their application materials to LauraLee Sales at <a href=\"mailto:lsales@uakron.edu\">lsales@uakron.edu<\/a> by 5:00 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good luck!
