{"id":82039,"date":"2021-01-19T03:11:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-19T08:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/?p=82039"},"modified":"2020-09-29T15:13:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-29T19:13:00","slug":"akcs-companion-animal-law-writing-contest-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/law\/2021\/01\/19\/akcs-companion-animal-law-writing-contest-3\/","title":{"rendered":"AKC&#8217;s Companion Animal Law Writing Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/akcgr.org\/akc\/writeaboutanimallaw\">The American Kennel Club<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> (AKC)<\/a> is pleased to announce the fourth annual Companion Animal Law Writing Contest!&nbsp;The contest begins on August 10th and is opens to all students currently enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cqrcengage.com\/akc\/file\/flJZIlg4CD4\/corgi with human at computer .jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contest will offer a first-place prize of <strong>$2500<\/strong> and a second-place prize of <strong>$500.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are asked to choose between two topics: <a href=\"https:\/\/cqrcengage.com\/akc\/file\/lhUQUBBoLOZ\/questions.pdf\">forfeiture of an animal and the legal treatment of animals as property.<\/a> This year\u2019s topics offer students the unique opportunity to discuss legal perspectives on issues currently in the news and at the forefront of animal law.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entries will be judged by legal and public policy professionals with experience in laws impacting companion animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contestants can enter now through March 31, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. EST.
