The Soroptimist International of Canton\/Stark County again this year is offering the Virginia Wagner Award<\/span><\/strong> to aid a student in undergraduate or graduate school.\u00a0 This program fulfills one of Soroptimist’s goals . . . “to strive for human rights for all people, and, in particular, to advance the status of women.”<\/p>\n

The Virginia Wagner Award winner is eligible for a cash award of First place – $550 and Second place – $500 from the local club.\u00a0 The local club winner is eligible for an additional award if they are the first place winner in the region.<\/p>\n

The following weighted guidelines are used in selecting a winner:<\/p>\n

  1. Scholarship (Weight 15)<\/li>\n
  2. Extra Curricular Activities (Weight 15)<\/li>\n
  3. Financial need (Weight 15)<\/li>\n
  4. Effort Toward Education (Weight 35)<\/li>\n
  5. General Impression (Weight 20)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The application form is to be completed on-line at www.bestforwomencanton.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n
