The purpose of this internship is to assist with UARF&#8217;s&nbsp;direct legal tasks, like licensing, patent strategy and research contracts,&nbsp;as well as assisting UARF affiliated startup companies with both legal and business strategy needs. Ideal candidate is a joint JD\/MBA student or a JD student interested in business and helping startup companies. <strong>Open to 1Ls and 2Ls.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hours: <\/strong>Begins this summer and may continue into fall;15-20 hours per week, flexible schedule<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pay Rate: <\/strong>$12.50 per hour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duties &amp; Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Assist in negotiating license agreements and research contracts<\/li><li>Participate in discussions regarding patent filings and associated strategy<\/li><li>Assist with UA&#8217;s patent docket, which may include administrative tasks, like scanning, filing and tracking patent deadlines<\/li><li>Support UARF affiliated startups in their legal needs, which may include drafting corporate documents, employment documents, and non-disclosure agreements, and performing trademark searching and provisional patent drafting<\/li><li>Support UARF affiliated startups in their business needs, which may include market research, competitive analysis, basic IP searching, developing customer lists, and providing candid feedback under the direction of UARF&#8217;s startup advisors<\/li><li>Provide support for UARF&#8217;s&nbsp;incubator and accelerator programs, including I-Corps<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To apply:<\/strong> email your resume and a brief letter of interest to Elyse Ball: <a href=\"mailto:eball@uakron.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eball@uakron.edu<\/a><br><strong>Deadline: ASAP<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AkronLawJobs No. 12612 Overview: The University of Akron Research Foundation (UARF) is an essential resource for early stage entrepreneurs who need guidance to understand their start-up needs and help to set and achieve business development and funding milestones.
