Dr. Larry Snider is visiting my Trial Advocacy I class tomorrow — Friday\u00a0March 23rd\u00a0beginning at 9:00\u00a0in Law-151.<\/strong>\u00a0 The class is scheduled from 9:00 AM until\u00a0noon but we will\u00a0likely meet for\u00a0two hours.\u00a0\u00a0Feel free to\u00a0invite your friends.<\/p>\n Dr. Snider is\u00a0Professor of Music and Director of Percussion Studies at The University of Akron and is Principal Percussionist with the Akron Symphony Orchestra.\u00a0\u00a0He\u00a0has built a strong percussion program at Akron and\u00a0his former students\u00a0consistently achieve professional success as performers and educators throughout the world.\u00a0\u00a0The percussion program\u2019s most visible and widely acclaimed component is The University of Akron Steel Drum Band.\u00a0 That’s right — steel drums in Akron!\u00a0 How did that happen?<\/p>\n Steel drums were first created\u00a0less than 100 years ago in colonial Trinidad as the people of that country\u00a0struggled for independence.\u00a0 Steel\u00a0drum music was the music of the people and became the\u00a0source of\u00a0great conflict.\u00a0\u00a0Authorities seized and destroyed the hand-hammered pans but the\u00a0Trinidadians immediately rebuilt them.\u00a0\u00a0Steel drum\u00a0music is now\u00a0a source of community pride, national identity, and economic development.\u00a0 Dr.\u00a0Snider brought steel drums from the\u00a0tropical\u00a0Caribbean to\u00a0the often\u00a0frigid northeast Ohio in\u00a01980 by creating\u00a0the University of Akron Steel Drum Band.<\/p>\n WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH TRIAL LAWYERS?\u00a0\u00a0DR.
