Starting in statistical year 15\/16\u00a0<strong>YTDCIRC<\/strong> counts will be moved to the <strong>LYRCIRC<\/strong> field and <strong>YTDCIRC<\/strong> will be reset to zero.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Internal Use Counts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/csdirect.iii.com\/sierrahelp\/Default.htm#sgcir\/sgcir_count_countingusage.html?Highlight=counting%20useage\">Internal use counts<\/a> <\/strong>are used to collect in-house usage statistics for library materials that do not circulate.\u00a0These statistics (counts) can be stored in the INTL USE,\u00a0 IUSE3, and\/or COPY USE item fixed fields depending on the purpose of the count.\u00a0 These fields have been renamed in our Sierra system as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>INTL USE\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 IN HOUSE COUNT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IUSE3 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 PROJECT USE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>COPY USE \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0SPECIAL USE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Internal use counts track activity that doesn\u2019t involve a circulation transaction such as a checkout, renewal, or booking.\u00a0 <strong>IN HOUSE COUNT <\/strong>will be used to track in-library usage of materials and will be zeroed out at the end of each statistical year. The <strong>PROJECT USE<\/strong> and <strong>SPECIAL USE<\/strong> fields can be used for library projects, gathering short-term usage statistics, small area inventories, and such. These fields will be zeroed out as necessary, depending on the duration and scope of the usage.<\/p>\n<p>Zeroing the counts in these fields does not impact stored circulation data in the <a href=\"http:\/\/csdirect.iii.com\/sierrahelp\/Default.htm#sgwr\/sgwr_circ_inhouse_activity.html\"><strong>In house<\/strong> <\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/csdirect.iii.com\/sierrahelp\/Default.htm#sgwr\/sgwr_circ_activity_reports.html?Highlight=circ%20activity\">Circ Activity<\/a> <\/strong>Web Management Reports as these reports draw from historical data stored on the Sierra server . However, \u201creal time\u201d reports such as <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/csdirect.iii.com\/sierrahelp\/Default.htm#sgstat\/sgstat_main_page.html?Highlight=Statistics\">Sierra Statistics<\/a><\/strong> or the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/csdirect.iii.com\/sierrahelp\/Default.htm#sgwr\/sgwr_circ_title_activity.html\">Title Circulation Report<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0 draw from the record as it is at the time the report is being run, not as it was at a specified time period.<\/p>\n<p>Later this summer we will\u00a0start offering a Sierra Training session on how the IN <strong>HOUSE COUNT<\/strong> field will be used, how the <strong>PROJECT USE<\/strong> and <strong>SPECIAL USE<\/strong> fields can be used, and how to run reports and gather statistical information from these fields.<\/p>\n<p><strong>YTDCIRC and LYRCIRC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sierra uses the\u00a0<strong>YTDCIRC<\/strong> field in the item record to automatically count the number of times an item has been checked out during a statistical period. Sierra uses the <strong>LYRCIRC<\/strong>\u00a0field to store the number of times an item was checked out during the previous statistical period.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the statistical year the count in the <strong>YTDCIRC <\/strong>field will be moved to the <strong>LYRCIRC <\/strong>field and the <strong>YTDCIRC<\/strong> field will be zeroed out.\u00a0 These counts may be used during the review process by comparing the <strong>TOT CIRC <\/strong>(total circulation) field to <strong>YTDCIRC<\/strong> and <strong>LYRCIRC<\/strong> fields or they may be used for other statistical purposes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/860\/2014\/07\/item.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3554 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/860\/2014\/07\/item.jpg\" alt=\"item\" width=\"821\" height=\"475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/860\/2014\/07\/item.jpg 821w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/860\/2014\/07\/item.jpg?resize=300,174 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/860\/2014\/07\/item.jpg?resize=768,444 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 821px) 100vw, 821px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In preparation for the new statistical year starting today, July 1, 2014, changes were made to the Internal Use Count fields and also starting today we\u2019ll begin to use the YTDCIRC field to track item checkouts for statistical year 14\/15.
