Rouzbeh Amini<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

Hometown: Tehran, Iran\/Minneapolis, MN
Hobbies: Hiking and cross-country skiing<\/p>\n

Rouzbeh Amini completed his\u00a0PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota in the field of ocular biomechanics and biotransport. He then continued his research work on the mechanics of soft tissue as a postdoctoral trainee at the University of Pittsburgh\u2019s Department of Bioengineering. \u00a0Rouzbeh Amini has served as an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at The University of Akron since August 2013.<\/p>\n

Fun fact: Presented my ARVO 2007 poster and got married in the\u00a0same day!<\/p>\n

Vineet Thomas<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

Hometown: Hyderabad, India
Hobbies: \u00a0Teaching, composing worship songs, and playing cricket<\/p>\n

Vineet holds a bachelor’s from Osmania University (Hyderabad, India)\u00a0and a master’s in civil engineering from The University of Akron. \u00a0Having become thereafter an assistant professor at his alma mater in India Vineet returned Akron for a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. \u00a0Current work involves developing a multi-scale framework to analyze the tricuspid valve (TV) biomechanics as well as identify changes in the tissue microstructure under ex-vivo loading conditions.<\/p>\n

Sam Salinas<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

Hometown: Sheffield Village, OH\/Orange, CA
Hobbies: Photography, backpacking, and traveling<\/p>\n

After receiving his Bachelor’s in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Sam worked in industry (Brainlab Inc.) for five years as a support specialist for the Oncology division. \u00a0He is currently a second year PhD student at the Department of Biomedical Engineering and has done some research in the role of elastin in tricuspid valves.<\/p>\n

Fun fact: Claimed by parents at the lost and found in a grocery store at the age of 3.<\/p>\n

Blaise Simplice Talla Nwotchouang<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

Hometown: Buea, Cameroon.
Hobbies: Singing, traveling, photography, and hiking<\/p>\n

Blaise completed his Masters degree in Biomedical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences, Aachen Germany. Joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Akron in 2016 and is currently carrying out In-vivo measurement of brain deformation in patients with Chiari malformation.<\/p>\n
