{"id":40459,"date":"2017-12-22T14:14:04","date_gmt":"2017-12-22T19:14:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/researchnewsinfo\/?p=40459"},"modified":"2017-12-22T14:14:04","modified_gmt":"2017-12-22T19:14:04","slug":"grants-gov-workspace-replacing-pdf-application-packages-beginning-january-1-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/researchnewsinfo\/2017\/12\/22\/grants-gov-workspace-replacing-pdf-application-packages-beginning-january-1-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Grants.gov WorkSpace &#8211; Replacing PDF Application Packages Beginning January 1, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About Workspace<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beginning 1\/1\/2018, Workspace will be the standard way to apply for grants in Grants.gov for both organizations and individuals (legacy PDF application packages in Grants.gov will no longer be available).\u00a0 Via the online platform, Workspace will allow a grant team to simultaneously access and edit different forms within an application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The following agencies and grant proposal application platforms will still be available and are preferred:<\/li>\n<li>NASA proposal through <a href=\"https:\/\/nspires.nasaprs.com\/external\/\">NSPIRES<\/a><\/li>\n<li>NIH proposals through <a href=\"https:\/\/public.era.nih.gov\/assist\/public\/login.do?TYPE=33554433&amp;REALMOID=06-58b5535a-f2c3-40ec-b9ff-a06a3ed4ee18&amp;GUID=&amp;SMAUTHREASON=0&amp;METHOD=GET&amp;SMAGENTNAME=-SM-938PYmoLVb4VrDeXo04LZUDVDvc%2b3899ByInEAjuSUvWNIGfB2zRpWiCivYGCogG&amp;TARGET=-SM-HTTP%3a%2f%2fpublic%2eera%2enih%2egov%2fassist%2f\">ASSIST<\/a><\/li>\n<li>NSF proposals through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastlane.nsf.gov\/\">FastLane<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Workspace Benefits to Applicants<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Workspace streamlines collaboration \u2013 multiple forms can be completed at once by a team of applicants.<\/li>\n<li>Workspace saves time \u2013 forms from old workspaces can be reused, reducing data-entry and saving time.<\/li>\n<li>Workspace helps detect errors earlier \u2013 improved error-checking allows applicants to catch and correct errors earlier resulting in fewer rejected submissions.<\/li>\n<li>Workspace simplifies applying \u2013 in a Grants.gov Workspace there are context-specific help articles that explain every link and button as well as many video tutorials that walk applicants through the Workspace submission process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>About Grants.gov Accounts and Profiles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You do NOT need to register for Grants.gov Workspace in order to be a University of Akron PI, Co-I, Senior Personnel, etc. However, Grants.gov Workspace registration IS required in order to start workspaces (i.e. proposals), to complete or upload documents, to view in-progress proposals yourself, and to track submitted proposals.\u00a0 In other words, Workspace has similar accessibility and functionality to NSF\u2019s FastLane.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to receive Grants.gov email subscriptions, such as news subscriptions or saved searches, you will need to be registered with Grants.gov.\u00a0 If you wish to access, manage, and track Workspaces (i.e. proposals) you will need to be registered with Grants.gov AND have a profile that corresponds to the applicant organization (e.g. The University of Akron).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An <strong>account <\/strong>in Grants.gov is defined by your unique email address, username and password.
