Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) W911NF-18-S-0001 for the Foundational Science\u00a0 Research Unit of the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social\u00a0 Sciences (ARI) solicits new proposals for its fiscal year 2018 program of basic\u00a0 research in behavioral science. The U.S. Army Research Institute for the\u00a0 Behavioral and Social Sciences is the Army lead agency for the conduct of\u00a0 research, development, and analyses for the improvement of Army readiness and\u00a0 performance via research advances and applications of the behavioral and social\u00a0 sciences that address personnel, organization, training, and leader development\u00a0 issues.\u00a0 The basic research program supports research projects that are designed\u00a0 to expand fundamental knowledge and discover general principles in behavioral and\u00a0 social sciences. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0A key consideration in the decision to support a research proposal is that its\u00a0 findings are likely to stimulate new, basic behavioral research which, in turn,\u00a0 will lead to improved performance of Army personnel and their units.\u00a0 Proposals\u00a0 may address both traditional behavioral issues as well as psychophysiological (to\u00a0 include neuroscience) and network science approaches to social phenomena, memory,\u00a0 cognition, and personality. ARI will not support proposals through this BAA that\u00a0 are primarily applied research projects (e.g., human factors studies or training\u00a0 program evaluations) or purely focused on physiology, psychopathology, or\u00a0 behavioral health.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Interested offerors are encouraged to submit white papers prior to submitting\u00a0 proposals.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
