The managing agent for the\nanticipated Program Announcements\/Funding Opportunities is the Congressionally\nDirected Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) at the U.S. Army Medical Research\nand Materiel Command (USAMRMC).&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PRORP is providing\nthe information in this pre-announcement to allow investigators time to plan\nand develop applications.&nbsp; FY19 PRORP Program Announcements and General\nApplication Instructions for the following award mechanisms are anticipated to\nbe posted on the Grants.gov website by June 2019.&nbsp; Pre-application and\napplication deadlines will be available when the Program Announcements are\nreleased.&nbsp; This pre-announcement should not be construed as an obligation\nby the Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PRORP will solicit research applications\nthat specifically address at least one of the following FY19 Focus Areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Compartment Syndrome Models: Diagnostic and\/or\ntreatment strategies developed in a large animal model that replicates\ncompartment syndrome.&nbsp; Model system should be clinically relevant and\nscientifically reproducible. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Limb Stabilization and Protection: Development of rapid\nlimb stabilization and novel wound protectants for severely wounded limbs to\nenable transport at the point of need.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Retention on Duty Strategies: Development and\/or\noptimization of battlefield-feasible diagnostic capabilities, decision support\ntools, interventions, and\/or rehabilitation strategies that can facilitate\nretention on duty for common combat-related musculoskeletal injuries.&nbsp;\n(Biomarker studies are excluded.)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Skin-implant Interface: Identification of best practices to\naddress infection at the skin-implant interface for osseointegrated prosthetic\nlimbs. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Translation of Early Findings: Translation of early\nresearch findings in orthopaedic surgical care topic areas (volumetric muscle\nloss, compartment syndrome, and soft tissue trauma) to move the research toward\nclinical trials and clinical practice.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tissue Regeneration Therapeutics: Development of\nadvanced tissue regeneration therapeutics in nerve, muscle, and\/or composite\ntissue for the restoration of traumatically injured extremities (excludes\nisolated bone tissue engineering studies). <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The following FY19\nPRORP award mechanisms are planned for release (note that Focus Area\nrequirements vary by award mechanism):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applied Research Award<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Independent investigators at all academic\nlevels (or equivalent) are eligible to submit applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>Pre-application is required;\n  full application submission is by invitation only.<\/strong>Supports\n  applied research applications focused on advancing optimal treatment and\n  restoration of function for military personnel with musculoskeletal injuries\n  sustained during combat or combat-related activities.Proposed research should be supported by\n  preliminary data and have the potential to make significant advancements\n  toward clinical translation. <em><strong>Clinical\n  trials are not allowed under this award mechanism.<\/strong><\/em><strong> <\/strong><strong><\/strong><strong>Applications must address one\n  the following FY19 PRORP Focus Areas:<\/strong><strong><\/strong>Compartment Syndrome ModelsLimb Stabilization and Protection\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Retention on Duty\n     Strategies<\/li><li>Maximum funding of <strong>$750,000<\/strong> for total costs (direct plus\nindirect costs).<\/li><li>Maximum period of performance is <strong>3<\/strong> years.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clinical Trial Award<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Independent investigators at all academic\nlevels (or equivalent) are eligible to submit applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>Pre-application is required;\n  full application submission is by invitation only.<\/strong>Supports rapid implementation of clinical\n  trials with the potential to have a major impact on military combat-related\n  orthopaedic injuries or non-battle injuries that significantly impact unit\n  readiness and return-to-duty\/work rates.<em><strong>Funding must support a clinical\n  trial and may not be used for preclinical research studies.<\/strong><\/em>Collaboration with military researchers and\n  clinicians is encouraged.Investigational New Drug or Investigational\n  Device Exemption applications, if needed, should be submitted to the Food and\n  Drug Administration<strong> within 6 months of the award date. <\/strong><strong>Applications\n  must address one the following FY19 PRORP Focus Areas:<\/strong><strong><\/strong>Limb Stabilization and ProtectionRetention on Duty StrategiesTranslation of Early\n  Findings<strong> <\/strong><strong><\/strong>\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applications submitted to\nthe <\/strong>Translation of Early Findings<em> (soft\ntissue trauma only)<\/em> Focus Area may elect a Rehabilitation Option<strong>, which provides a higher funding\nmaximum for surgical intervention studies that propose an integrative\nrehabilitation component.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  Maximum funding of <strong>$2.5M<\/strong> for total costs. (<strong>$3M <\/strong>maximum\n  total costs if requesting the Rehabilitation Option.)\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Maximum period of\nperformance is <strong>4 <\/strong>years.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clinical Translational Research Award<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Independent investigators at all academic\nlevels (or equivalent) are eligible to submit applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>Pre-application is required;\n  full application submission is by invitation only.<\/strong>Supports high-impact and\/or emerging\n  research that may or may not be ready for a full-scale, randomized,\n  controlled clinical trial.<em><strong>Funding must support clinical\n  research studies involving humans. <\/strong><\/em>Preliminary or published data relevant to\n  the proposed research project are required.Collaboration with military researchers and\n  clinicians is encouraged.Investigational\n  New Drug or Investigational Device Exemption applications, if needed, should\n  be submitted to the Food and Drug Administration <em><strong>within 12 months of the award date.<\/strong><\/em><em><\/em><strong>Applications\n  must address one the following FY19 PRORP Focus Areas:<\/strong><strong><\/strong>Retention on Duty\n  Strategies \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tissue Regeneration Therapeutics<\/li><li>Maximum funding of <strong>$2M<\/strong> for total costs.<\/li><li>Maximum period of performance is <strong>4 <\/strong>years.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A pre-application is required and must be\nsubmitted through the electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP)\nat <a href=\"https:\/\/nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2FeBRAP.org&amp;data=02%7C01%7CRschSrvsGA8%40uakron.edu%7C8be72815905a4e17e50d08d6b6a6022b%7Ce8575dedd7f94ecea4aa0b32991aeedd%7C1%7C0%7C636897221448480015&amp;sdata=SAmUJBFCA9k9jDbP4JsRdRBR5dp9F1JqwTi6R%2B%2BPxkk%3D&amp;reserved=0\">https:\/\/eBRAP.org<\/a>\nprior to the pre-application deadline.
