{"id":45675,"date":"2021-07-18T16:17:30","date_gmt":"2021-07-18T20:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/researchnewsinfo\/?p=45675"},"modified":"2021-07-18T16:21:35","modified_gmt":"2021-07-18T20:21:35","slug":"national-endowment-for-the-humanities-humanities-connections-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/researchnewsinfo\/2021\/07\/18\/national-endowment-for-the-humanities-humanities-connections-program\/","title":{"rendered":"National Endowment for the Humanities: Humanities Connections Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Humanities Connections program encourages faculty members within the humanities department and their counterparts within the social and natural sciences to create partnerships that support new and innovative approaches to learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program will fund in two levels: <strong>Planning <\/strong>and <strong>Implementation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Humanities Connections projects must include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>substantive and purposeful integration of the subject matter, perspectives, and pedagogical approaches of two or more disciplines (with a minimum of one in and one outside of the humanities)<\/li><li>collaboration between faculty from two or more departments or schools at one or more institutions<\/li><li>experiential learning as an intrinsic part of the proposed curriculum<\/li><li>long-term institutional support for the proposed curriculum innovation(s)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Competitive applications will demonstrate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>that the proposed curricular project expands the role of the humanities in addressing significant and compelling topics or issues in undergraduate education at the applicant institution(s)<\/li><li>that these projects develop the intellectual skills and habits of mind cultivated by the study of the humanities<\/li><li>that faculty and students will benefit from meaningful collaborations in teaching and learning across disciplines as a result of the project&#8221;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:12px\">Maximum Award Amount<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Planning: $35,000<br>Implementation: $150,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:12px\">Open To<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Organizations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:12px\">Period of Performance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Planning: 12 months<br>Implementation: 18 &#8211; 36 months <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:12px\">Application Available<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>June 23, 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:12px\">Application Due<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>September 14th, 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:12px\">Expected Notifcation Date<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>April 1, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:12px\">Project Start Date<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>June 1, 2022 &#8211; September 1, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information regarding this grant, please visit the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.neh.gov\/grants\/education\/humanities-connections\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.neh.gov\/grants\/education\/humanities-connections\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>grant page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Humanities Connections program encourages faculty members within the humanities department and their counterparts within the social and natural sciences to create partnerships that support new and innovative approaches to learning.
