Holiday Tree Festival 2016

This year, SEAC participated in the 35th Annual Holiday Tree (and Wreath) Festival to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital.   Here’s our entry:

For about $7 in materials, the wreath went for $50!

More information on the event can be found here: Holiday Tree Festival

Special thanks to the SEAC Committee for the idea and to Laura Spray for helping coordinate the project.

Hmmm… maybe a group folding project next year to make ornaments?  I think we could do a tree.  🙂

SEAC & CPAC Operation Evergreen 2015: Part 1

Members of SEAC and CPAC worked together to create holiday ornaments for Operation Evergreen – a project established by the Ohio Christmas Tree Association to send trees and ornaments to military personnel serving overseas.  Here are a few examples of the creativity:

SEAC will also be joining UA Students for Make a Difference Day as part of their volunteer projects.

Make a Difference Day and Operation Evergreen

On October 25th, SEAC joined with the students of Make A Difference Day to create ornaments for Operation Evergreen.  Over the span of a few hours, dozens and dozens of ornaments were made using kits and embellished with ribbon, foam shapes, and glitter.

Thanks to Student Life for their contribution to Operation Evergreen!

Operation Evergreen – Students contribute

SEAC hosted two crafting tables in the Student Union so that student volunteers could help create original ornaments with every crafting supply imaginable.  The glitter glue was – by far – the most popular item.  Check out their handiwork below:

Operation Evergreen

camoDuring the Fall 2014 Semester, SEAC is working with Galehouse Tree farms on Operation Evergreen – a project to send trees and ornaments to service personnel stationed overseas.

The ornaments are handmade and have to fit some unusual criteria – they need to be flat and sturdy since they will be packaged with trees and shipped all over the world.

Articles in the Email digest and Zipmail  – along with the Buchtelite are helping to get the word out.

Student Life has volunteered to help as part of a service project and expect to donate over 200 ornaments.

Donations will be accepted through the end of October 2014.  The ornaments will then be taken to the tree farm for packaging and shipping.
