ECE 440:693 – Information Theory

This course is an introduction to Information Theory. The main goal of this course is to provide some basic understandings and fundamental knowledge of Information Theory. A few advanced topics and interesting ideas of Information Theory and its applications shall also be introduced, at a level accessible to students with basic backgrounds in probability/statistic and wireless communications. When completing this course, it is expected that a student should

  • Obtain a solid background of Information Theory and understand its applications in various disciplines
  • Be able to assess related research papers, and ideally, start doing research
