Kresh<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Reflecting on this vibrant winter season at the Center for Intellectual Property x Innovation Policy, I am filled with gratitude and excitement. As you can read in the report linked below, which covers this past September through November, we have been active and productive, hosting public and private events and supporting academic writing, including an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cip2.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2024\/10\/24-1022-Amicus-Brief-of-Tattoo-Artists.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amicus brief<\/a> to the 9th Circuit <\/strong>submitted by <strong>Professor Sandra Aistars<\/strong> and <strong>Matthew Hersh<\/strong>, <strong>policy briefs on pending legislation<\/strong> (particularly a <a href=\"https:\/\/cip2.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2024\/11\/GMU-C-IP2-Acri-PolicyBrief-Injunctive-Relief-RESTORE-FINAL-for-web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brief<\/a> on RESTORE by <strong>Dr. Kristina Acri<\/strong>), and shorter articles on key issues including a <a href=\"https:\/\/cip2.gmu.edu\/2024\/11\/18\/what-the-ftc-gets-wrong-about-the-fdas-orange-book\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog post<\/a> by <strong>Professor Emily Michiko Morris<\/strong> and <strong>Douglas Park <\/strong> on the <strong>FTC&#8217;s Orange Book challenges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Our Edison Fellowship program continues to thrive. We held our second meeting of 2024-2025, and Fellows are currently finalizing drafts for our final meeting in January. We are also excited to welcome our 2025-2026 Edison Fellows soon.<\/p>\n<p>The highlight over the past few months was undoubtedly our Annual Fall Conference, which was our best-attended event since the pandemic. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=t7fW8cqI480&amp;list=PLwnfeYwcrnmE-7U-gaweBn_Xt2Rpon73r&amp;pp=gAQB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Recordings<\/a> are available online for those who missed the live sessions. We also convened our annual BioPharma roundtable, bringing together industry leaders and academics to discuss critical issues and explore future research opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve expanded our network by welcoming new members to our Advisory Board and\u00a0bringing on new Scholars and Practitioners in Residence to bring fresh perspectives and deep expertise to our mission.<\/p>\n<p>These achievements are not possible without your continued support. Your commitment enables us to drive meaningful dialogue, research, and policy recommendations at the intersection of intellectual property and innovation. Looking towards spring, we have several exciting initiatives planned, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Scholarly and Policy writing on critical intellectual property issues,<\/li>\n<li>Private roundtables with key stakeholders, and<\/li>\n<li>Speaking engagements for our Scholars and Fellows at conferences, on podcasts, and in Congressional Hearings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We are entirely funded by donations and rely on the generosity of our sponsors to continue our crucial work.<\/strong> Your support is the lifeblood of our mission, enabling us to conduct critical research, hold important conversations, and develop policy recommendations that can truly make a difference.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, we are seeking adjuncts and volunteers to support our <strong>Arts &amp; Entertainment Advocacy Clinic<\/strong> and possibly our <strong>Entertainment Law<\/strong> class this spring. Acri n\u00e9e Lybecker<\/strong>\u00a0(Professor of Economics and Business, Colorado College) looks at the challenges introduced to the U.S. patent system by\u00a0<em>eBay Inc. v. MercExchange LLC<\/em>\u00a0and how the RESTORE Patent Rights Act could \u201creestablish a rebuttable presumption of an injunction in favor of patent owners who prove their patents have been infringed.
