The purpose of <\/span>Poetry Studio: Prompts for Poets <\/span><\/i>is to welcome you to your own poetry studio. Like an art studio, recording studio, dance studio, yoga studio, or basketball court,\u202f<\/span>Poetry Studio\u202f<\/span><\/i>invites you into a creative space where you can make a new poem even when you might not feel creative by offering prompts paired with poems so that your reading and writing practices are intertwined.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re in an\u202f<\/span>MFA program or a college class, writing your first poem or are a published poet, these prompts are meditations and invitations for you to\u202f<\/span>write<\/span><\/i>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

About the author<\/h2>\n

Tyler Mills is a poet, essayist, and educator. She is the author of <\/span><\/span>City Scattered<\/span><\/span><\/em> (Snowbound Chapbook Award, Tupelo Press, 2022); <\/span><\/span>Hawk Parable<\/span><\/span><\/em> (Akron Poetry Prize, University of Akron Press, 2019); <\/span><\/span>Tongue Lyre<\/span><\/span><\/em> (Crab Orchard Series in Poetry First Book Award, Southern Illinois University Press, 2013); and co-author with Kendra <\/span>DeColo<\/span> of <\/span><\/span>Low Budget Movie<\/span><\/span><\/em> (Diode Editions Chapbook Prize, Diode Editions, 2021). Her memoir, <\/span><\/span>The Bomb Cloud<\/span><\/span><\/em> (Unbound Edition Press<\/span>,<\/span> 2024), received a Literature Grant from the Caf\u00e9 Royal Foundation NYC. The recipient of residencies from Yaddo, <\/span>Ragdale<\/span>, the Bethany Arts Community, and the Vermont Studio Center, as well as fellowships from Bread Loaf, Sewanee, and the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop, Tyler Mills teaches for Sarah Lawrence College\u2019s Writing Institute and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center\u2019s 24PearlStreet.
