Wayne County Mini Maker Faire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n<p>The Wayne County Mini Maker Faire is a <strong>family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness<\/strong>, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. \u00a0It\u2019s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.\u00a0 Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to <strong>entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Daily Record said it best: \u201cDubbed the \u2018Greatest Show and Tell on Earth\u2019; over <strong>1,300 people<\/strong> flocked to the second annual faire at the University of Akron Wayne College last May. \u00a0It was a fresh experience with <strong>favorite makers from last year<\/strong> coming back along with <strong>new makers<\/strong> and new things to see and do.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10767\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2018\/11\/DSC_0172-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cleveland.makerfaire.com\/\">Cleveland Mini Maker Faire<\/a> is this Saturday (tomorrow)!<\/strong> \u00a0It runs from 10:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m. at the Cleveland Public Library (main library on Superior Avenue).\u00a0 <strong>Be sure not to miss this incredible event.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2018 marks Cleveland Mini Maker Faire\u2019s 6th year!\u00a0 Are you ready?\u00a0 This celebration of Cleveland\u2019s spirit of <strong>ingenuity, exploration, invention<\/strong> and just plain fun has something for everyone with an emphasis on <strong>hands-on action<\/strong>: touch, try, test and tweak, build, break, bust and bedazzle, launch, lift, light and learn, scout, sculpt, seek and show, explore, elaborate, engage and, most of all, enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>Get your hands on <strong>cutting edge technology<\/strong> and cool projects.\u00a0 Enjoy <strong>workshops<\/strong> led by expert Makers.\u00a0 And, get ready to have your mind blown over and over again!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10771\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2018\/11\/Minimaker-Fair-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are <strong>proud to showcase Ohio makers<\/strong> who participated in the Wayne County Mini Maker Faire this year.\u00a0 One such maker is <strong>Ben Ault.<\/strong>\u00a0 He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University in mechanical and aerospace engineering. \u00a0At Case, Ben was involved in the Rocket Team as vice president and lab manager where he developed his interest in high powered rocketry. \u00a0Rocketry allows him to combine his enjoyment for manufacturing and fabrication with his interest in engineering.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10775\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2018\/11\/IMG_1255-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the past two Maker Faires, Ben brought <strong>huge model rockets<\/strong> and demonstrated how they work.\u00a0 <strong>Model rocketry is for every age and experience level,<\/strong> from design to launch.\u00a0 Faire attendees came to see what model rocketry is all about.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out our makers who participated is <strong>Dick Radosevik.<\/strong>\u00a0 He is a retired Electrical Engineer with a BS from the University of Cincinnati, College of Engineering. \u00a0Other than co-op experience, Dick worked at one location in Akron for Goodyear Aerospace, Lorel Defense Systems, and Lockheed Martin. He worked in the defense industry on simulation systems, large scale parallel processors, and underwater systems.\u00a0 Dick has been a Volunteer for <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenenergyoh.org\/\">Green Energy Ohio<\/a><\/strong> (GEO) coordinating the local GEO Annual Solar Tours for seven years and was the GEO Volunteer of the Year for 2014.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10779\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2018\/11\/DSCF3676-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dick\u2019s major interest is <strong>renewable energy and sustainability.<\/strong>\u00a0 For the past two maker faires, Dick brought and demonstrated solar panels and an electric car.\u00a0 The sun is the largest energy source in the solar system.
