Wayne County Mini Maker Faire"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/waynecounty.makerfaire.com\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Want to bring your hobby, invention, school\nproject, or product to the Wayne County Mini Maker faire?&nbsp; We\u2019d love to\nhave you!&nbsp; Act fast; the application deadline is April 1st!&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/waynecounty.makerfaire.com\/call-for-makers\/\">You can signup here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wayne County Mini Maker Faire is a <strong>family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and\nresourcefulness<\/strong> and a celebration of the Maker Movement. &nbsp;It\u2019s\na place where people show what they are making, and share what they are\nlearning.&nbsp; Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders\nto scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The\naim of Maker Faire is to <strong>entertain, inform, connect\nand grow this community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Daily Record said it best: \u201cDubbed the \u2018Greatest Show and\nTell on Earth\u2019; over <strong>1,300 people<\/strong> flocked to the second annual faire at the University\nof Akron Wayne College last May. &nbsp;It was a fresh experience with <strong>favorite makers from last year<\/strong> coming back along\nwith <strong>new makers<\/strong> and new things to see\nand do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/IMG_0163-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11423\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maker Faires are incredible at any size.<\/strong>&nbsp; In its simplest form, Maker Faire creates opportunities for\nconversations with Makers. &nbsp;Tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators,\ntinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and\nentrepreneurs all come together to show their projects and to talk about what\nthey have learned. It is a community based learning event that inspires\neveryone to become a maker, <strong>and connect with\npeople and projects in their local community.<\/strong>&nbsp; Yet, Maker Faire\nis a \u201cfair\u201d \u2014 fun, engaging, and exciting.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/maker-faire-adelaide-maker-faire-things-to-see-and1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11427\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While\nmost Maker Faires are offered in parks, community centers, and at other\noutdoor\/indoor venues, <strong>schools can also participate<\/strong>\nin the <a href=\"http:\/\/waynecounty.makerfaire.com\/\">Wayne County Mini Maker\nFaire<\/a> because they are a perfect combination of part <strong>science fair, part county fair, and part something\nentirely new.<\/strong> &nbsp;School Maker Faire exhibitors, or \u201cmakers,\u201d are\nprimarily students\u2014either as individuals, clubs, classes or groups. And Maker\nFaire exhibits can be from any discipline \u2014 from science to art to gardening to\nengineering to craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"356\" height=\"308\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/school.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/school.jpg 356w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/school.jpg?resize=300,260 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 356px) 100vw, 356px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/makerfaire.com\/global\/school\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\n<strong>Wayne County Mini Maker Faire<\/strong> is perfect\nfor your school to showcase the making already taking place, replace a more\nlimited science fair model, connect with larger creativity, innovation, STEM,\nor art initiatives, cultivate awareness of the Maker Movement, and build school\ncommunity.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are <strong>proud to\nshowcase Ohio makers<\/strong> who participated in the\nWayne County Mini Maker Faire last year.&nbsp;\nOne of these groups is the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orrville.lib.oh.us\/\">Orrville Public\nLibrary<\/a>.<\/strong>&nbsp; At this year\u2019s faire, they will reveal\ntheir new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orrville.lib.oh.us\/content\/memory-lab\">Memory\nLab<\/a>!&nbsp; The Lab is a space for the community to learn how to access,\ndigitize, and share old videos, audio recordings, photographs, and slides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/memlab-banner-1024x339.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11435\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orrville.lib.oh.us\/content\/memory-lab\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can <strong>freely use equipment<\/strong>\nin the Memory Lab to convert vinyl record, 8mm\/Super 8, VHS\/DVD, floppy disk,\nand audio cassette to digital format.&nbsp; There is also a slides\/35mm\nscanner, document scanner, and photo scanner.&nbsp; Feel free to stop-by the\nlibrary for a tour!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another group that participated in the Wayne County Mini\nMaker Faire is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schantzmakerspace.com\/\">Schantz\nMakerspace, Inc.<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp; It is a community of builders,\ntinkerers, and inventors working together to offer training opportunities,\ngroup build classes, and a chance to get to know other makers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/schantz1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/schantz1.jpg 667w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/schantz1.jpg?resize=300,225 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/schantz1.jpg?resize=425,319 425w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 667px) 100vw, 667px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At this year\u2019s faire, Schantz Makerspace will demonstrate\ntabletop CNC machines and 3-D printers. &nbsp;They also offer training classes\nin Arduino, group-build classes, and software training.&nbsp; Join a group of\nmakers who meet, learn, collaborate, and make things.&nbsp; Find-out more at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.schantzmakerspace.com\">www.schantzmakerspace.com<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rounding out our makers who participated is the <strong>Ventrac Robot Club.<\/strong>&nbsp; The club exposes\nchildren of employees at Ventrac ages 6-14 to <strong>robotics\n&amp; programming.<\/strong> &nbsp;Last year, faire attendees saw the kits\nthey used including LEGO robotics, Arduino circuits, and coding in Minecraft on\na Raspberry Pi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/03\/20180305_19502901-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11443\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ventrac Robot Club is open to kids of employees at Venture\nProduct Inc. &nbsp;They meet every Monday night from January to March.
