Wayne County Mini Maker Faire"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wayne County Mini Maker Faire is a <strong>family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and\nresourcefulness<\/strong> and a celebration of the Maker Movement. &nbsp;It\u2019s\na place where people show what they are making, and share what they are\nlearning.&nbsp; Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders\nto scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The\naim of Maker Faire is to <strong>entertain, inform, connect\nand grow this community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Daily Record said it best: \u201cDubbed the \u2018Greatest Show and\nTell on Earth\u2019; over <strong>1,300 people<\/strong> flocked to the second annual faire at the University\nof Akron Wayne College last May. &nbsp;It was a fresh experience with <strong>favorite makers from last year<\/strong> coming back along\nwith <strong>new makers<\/strong> and new things to see\nand do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=08Y6tlDX2o8&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/IMG_0097-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11535\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2013 or so, the <strong>Midwest\nRepRap Festival<\/strong>, or MRRF, has been a quickly growing gathering of 3D\nprinting enthusiasts from all over the world. &nbsp;This year, it has grown to\nencompass three large buildings in Goshen, Indiana and housed an incredible 3D\nprinters, both new and old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event offers not only a chance to see printers in\naction, but also to experience new experiments, cool custom projects, get your\nprinter repaired, and best of all <strong>you can meet\npeople.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"749\" height=\"420\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/reprap1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11539\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/reprap1.jpg 749w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/reprap1.jpg?resize=300,168 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/reprap1.jpg?resize=425,238 425w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 749px) 100vw, 749px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/08Y6tlDX2o8\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joel\nfrom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC_7aK9PpYTqt08ERh1MewlQ\">3D\nPrinting Nerd<\/a> put out a pretty good summary of some of the projects you\nmight see at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Czsn3sdHTFQ&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"746\" height=\"419\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/reprap2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11543\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/reprap2.jpg 746w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/reprap2.jpg?resize=300,168 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/reprap2.jpg?resize=425,239 425w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 746px) 100vw, 746px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Czsn3sdHTFQ\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\ntour from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCb8Rde3uRL1ohROUVg46h1A\">Thomas\nSanlanderer<\/a> shows off just how huge and chaotic the event has become, and\nhe\u2019s filming during a slow period!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are <strong>proud to\nshowcase Ohio makers<\/strong> participating in the Wayne County Mini Maker Faire.&nbsp; One of these people is <strong>Eliot Aretskin-Hariton.<\/strong> &nbsp;He invented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamecrafter.com\/crowdsale\/obelisk\">Obelisk<\/a>, a\ncooperative board game that was originally prototyped using free-to-access\nlaser cutter resources at the Cleveland Public Library. &nbsp;At the faire this\nMay, he will have on-display the process he traveled through over the last two\nyears from initial inception through industrial scale production. &nbsp;Come\ntalk with Eliot and his group if you want to understand what it takes to make\nyour own board game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/IMG_3095-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11547\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t miss their <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamecrafter.com\/crowdsale\/obelisk\">crowd sale<\/a><\/strong> from April 12-19th!&nbsp; The more\npeople that purchase the game during the crowd sale, the less everyone pays for\nthe game. &nbsp;As a tiny board game company, they need your help getting the\nword out. &nbsp;Our greatest advantage is their passionate supporters!&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another group participating in the Wayne County Mini Maker\nFaire this year are the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/piratesoftherustycutlass\/\">Pirates of the Rusty Cutlass<\/a>.<\/strong>&nbsp;\nThey are pirate entertainers that educate people about nautical and pirate\nhistory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/04\/28701573_593327787684239_8981976968215637969_o-1024x423.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11551\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sailin&#8217; aboard th&#8217; Inferno, we be th&#8217; Pirates o&#8217; th&#8217; Rusty\nCutlass &#8211; th&#8217; grandest crew o&#8217; skallywags yew&#8217;ll eva cross paths wit&#8217;.
